DOCUMENTS AND RELATED INFORMATION ABOUT JOSEPH WRIGHT HENDERSON:

Joseph married a woman named Elizabeth Jones, who had been born in the Barbados, West Indies. Joseph applied for a passport in 1884. Their son Joseph W. Henderson, according to the 1900 census, was born in Jun 1885 in Pennsylvania, and their daughter Elizabeth was born in about Sep 1889 in Pennsylvania.

The 1900 census shows Joseph Sr. as married, but living by himself in Philadelphia, and his wife Elizabeth (Bessie) and her two children living with her brother Humphrey Jones in Philadelphia.

The 1930 census shows his wife and her two children still living with her brother Humphrey Jones in Philadelphia. At this point, neither of the children were married, and a descendant of Joseph Hendersonl reports from information she has from her family that neither of them ever did.

The 1880 Census reveals the whereabouts of Joseph and Catharine's children who were still surviving at the time. Joseph and James were "cousins" living with John D. Reed and his wife and son, Samuel Ruggles Reed. (John Reed was the son of Alice Ruggles Reed, who was the daughter of Hannah Henderson Ruggles, who was the daughter of Hannah Henderson Cathers). Joseph was 20 at the time, and listed himself as a dentist. James was still attending school. Their youngest brother Samuel Ruggles Henderson was living with their father's brother, James M. Henderson.
